Who we are

Shine African Market, LLC, a grocery business based in Tucson, AZ, delivering Liberian and West African groceries locally.

What we collect

• When you order: your name, email, phone number, delivery address, any delivery notes you write, and what you bought.
• When you sign up for texts: your phone number, the date and time you agreed, and the exact wording you agreed to.
• Automatically: only what the site needs to function — your shopping cart and, for staff, a sign-in session. We do not run advertising trackers or third-party analytics.

We never see your card number. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe on their own secure pages. We receive only a reference number and the amount.

Why we collect it

To take your order, deliver it, keep you updated about it, answer questions, and — only if you specifically agreed — to tell you about new arrivals and offers. That is all. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with anyone for marketing.

Text messages

Order updates go to the number you gave when ordering, because they are about the purchase you made. Marketing messages only go to people who actively ticked the opt-in box, which is never pre-ticked. The wording you agree to is:

Yes, text me at this number. I agree to receive order updates plus occasional new arrivals, offers, and reminders from Shine African Market. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help.

Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe immediately, or HELP for help. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop order updates about a purchase you have already made.

Who else handles your information

We use a small number of services to run the shop. Each sees only what it needs:

• Stripe — payments. They handle card details; we never receive them.
• Supabase — stores orders and products.
• Vercel — hosts the website.
• Resend — sends order confirmation emails.
• Twilio — sends text messages.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept for as long as we are required to for tax and accounting purposes. Text message consent records are kept for as long as you are subscribed and for a period afterwards, so that we can show consent was given if it is ever questioned.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Deleting information tied to a completed order may not be possible where we are required to keep it for tax purposes, and we will tell you if that applies.

Children

This shop is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
